YOUR WEDDING DRESS

Capturing all the considerations of proprietory, tradition, sensuality and fashion trends into one dress for the most important occasion of your life is the task you face when choosing your wedding dress.

Where you are getting married and the time of day of the wedding will have an influence on the style of dress. A dress that is appropriate for a late afternoon wedding will be entirely different from a dress suitable for a morning church wedding. A shrug or other form of cover up is a clever and practical way of taking the style from ceremony to reception.

A gown of classic timeless elegance and understated style will still look fabulous when you revisit your photographs in ten, twenty or even thirty years time.

Fashions change but style will always remain so choose carefully when selecting your gown. Put your trust in a designer whose style you admire and can be relied upon to design a gown with instinctive elegance influenced by elements of contemporary style subtly overlaid.

Start the search for the dress as early as possible as it usually takes as least 6 months for a wedding dress to be made. Wedding dresses may seem expensive but a quality gown is structured in such a way that it can not only enhance but transform your figure. On your wedding day all eyes will be on you, so choose the best you can afford.

You may already have an idea of costs and have a style in mind but for the uninitiated a good place to start is at a good local salon where you will be able to try on a variety of styles. Most salons will ask you to make an appointment so that you can be assured of personal attention.

The salon may well ask your budget so that they can direct you to a suitable range. Go with an open mind as the style you had in mind may not be the one that one suits you when you try it on. Take a friend who can be relied upon to give an honest opinion but also listen to the assistants who are experts in judging which styles will suit different figures.

When the dress has been decided upon, the salon usually requires a deposit of 50%. A number of fittings are usually necessary and you should take your bra, shoes, veils and any other accessories to the final fitting.
